Using Your GI Bill? We Built This With You in Mind.

At Two Marines Moving, we don’t just employ veterans after school.

We employ veterans while they’re using their GI Bill.

Because we’ve been there.

The GI Bill is a powerful benefit. It’s generous in many respects. It opens doors. It creates opportunity.

But let’s be honest—
for most veterans, it’s still a baseline. It helps you get by, not necessarily get ahead.

And that’s where the right kind of work—done the right way—makes all the difference.

This Model Was Lived Before It Was Offered

The founder of Two Marines Moving, Nicholas Baucom, didn’t theorize this system. He lived it.

Baucom used his GI Bill to attend the University of Memphis, ultimately earning his bachelor’s degree in 2008.

That same year:

  • He separated from the Marine Corps with an Honorable Discharge
  • He left active duty as a Sergeant of Marines
  • He founded Two Marines Moving

It was a busy year.
(Yes—haha.)

What most people don’t see is the long runway behind that moment.

Baucom attended classes while on active duty and in the reserves, starting at the University of Memphis years earlier. His academic path was interrupted by reality—
including deploying to Iraq in 2003, which required dropping classes mid‑stream.

Like many veterans, his college journey wasn’t linear.
It was adaptive.
It was earned.

And through that entire period, Baucom worked.

Because that’s what veterans do.

Work + GI Bill: A Mutually Beneficial Union

Today, Two Marines Moving intentionally employs veterans who are actively using their GI Bill.

Not despite their school schedules—
because of them.

Here’s how it works in practice:

  • Veterans typically work 1–4 days per week
  • They dial it up during spring, summer, and winter breaks
  • They dial it back during exams, finals, and thesis or capstone periods
  • Schedules are planned, respected, and communicated like professionals

That flexibility works for them.
And it works for us.

We don’t need chaos.
We need reliable adults who can scale up and down with intent.

Veterans using their GI Bill already understand that rhythm.

Why This Works at Two Marines Moving

Two Marines Moving is not a gig‑economy environment.

We operate with:

  • Doctrine
  • Standards
  • Accountability
  • Planning

Veterans in school bring a unique advantage:

They’re already disciplined enough to manage:

  • Classes
  • Studying
  • Deadlines
  • Work
  • Life

Adding professional employment into that mix doesn’t overwhelm them—it structures them.

And in return, they gain:

  • Strong income on top of GI Bill housing allowance
  • Leadership and operational experience
  • Resume‑worthy responsibility
  • Real‑world management exposure
  • A team that understands military transitions

That’s not accidental.
That’s by design.

We Respect the Academic Mission

At Two Marines Moving, we don’t punish education.

We plan around it.

When exam season hits—we know.
When papers are due—we adjust.
When graduation approaches—we support.

Because education is not a distraction from the mission.
For many veterans, it is the mission.

We’ve been on that path ourselves.
We know what it looks like to carry a ruck full of responsibilities.

From School to Leadership—and Beyond

Many veterans who start with us while using their GI Bill:

  • Step into Team Leader roles
  • Learn operational management
  • Discover interest in entrepreneurship
  • Build confidence in civilian leadership
  • Transition into full‑time careers—inside or outside the company

Some stay with us long‑term.
Some take what they’ve learned and build elsewhere.

Both outcomes are wins.

Because our goal is not to trap people—it’s to develop them.

Built by Someone Who Did It the Hard Way

This system exists because it was lived:

  • Classes dropped to deploy
  • Classes resumed after returning
  • GI Bill used responsibly
  • Work maintained throughout
  • Degree earned
  • Company founded

No shortcuts.
No hand‑holding.
Just execution.

That lived experience shapes how we lead today.

The Invitation

If you’re a veteran currently using your GI Bill—and you’re looking for:

  • Flexible, professional employment
  • Industry‑leading pay
  • A team that respects school commitments
  • Leadership development while you learn
  • A company built by someone who’s walked that road

Then Two Marines Moving may be a strong fit.

Education and work don’t have to be at odds.
When done right, they reinforce each other.

We know—because we’ve done it.
